✨Class Enrollment: Drop Requests in the Parent Portal - 04/23/26

❓ What is changing?

The Parent Portal Drop Requests feature, previously available in Jackrabbit Labs, has graduated 🎓 and is now available to all users.

Families can now submit requests to drop a student from a class directly through the Parent Portal, creating a clear and trackable workflow for managing class drops.

💡 Why did Jackrabbit make this change?

Previously, drop requests were often handled through calls or emails, which could lead to missed messages, delayed processing, and inconsistent communication.

This update gives you a clearer process for managing drops, helps ensure requests don’t slip through the cracks, and reduces the back-and-forth between staff and families.

🛠️ What do I need to do?

  • Use the Allow Portal Drop Requests setting (defaulted to No) to control drop requests:
    • for an individual class from the Summary tab of the Class record
    • for multiple classes using Edit All Classes
  • Set a minimum notice period (if required) from the Summary tab of the Class record using the Mimimum notice (days) setting
  • From the Parent Portal, families will request a drop from the More options icon (3 dots) on the class card
  • Review and manage requests from the Executive Dashboard > Alerts section

ℹ️ Helpful Info

  • Control which Drop Reasons are visible to staff and families using the Drop-down List Editor (Gear > Settings > General)
  • Families can be kept informed by turning on email notifications for drop requests (off by default)
  • A Drop Request Pending indicator appears on the class in the Parent Portal until the drop is approved or denied
