Record a late return Chargeback (failed payment) in Jackrabbit
Objective
Manually record a late return Chargeback in Jackrabbit when a bank draft payment, such as ACH or PAD, fails after the original payment has already been recorded on the family record.
Solution
Jackrabbit Pay automatically records failed bank draft payments on the family record when the failure is received within the standard processing window. When a late return is received outside that window, manually record the return so the family balance reflects the failed payment and the related fees are marked as due again.
Use these steps to manually record the late return in Jackrabbit.
- Go to the Family record > Transactions tab.
- Select the R icon on the payment transaction line.
- In the Refund Transaction pop-up window, select Refund by Different Payment Method > Record Refund in Jackrabbit Only.
- Update the following fields:
- Post Date: Change the date field to match the late return notification date.
- Note: Enter the PSP# and the return reason from the notification.
- Select the checkboxes for the fees linked to the payment, then select Next.
- In the Are Fees Still Due? window, select Due.
- Select Submit Refund.
ℹ️ With Jackrabbit Pay, bank draft refunds can only be issued in Jackrabbit after a five-day waiting period. This helps confirm the payment has cleared before a refund is allowed.
